Being Ticked Off...

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 7, 2009, 3:46 PM
has never been so pleasant!

Thanks to everyone who suggested/vouched/nominated (however it's done) me for such a lovely honor. It's appreciated.

  • Mood: dA Love

In appreciation

Journal Entry: Tue Aug 4, 2009, 2:41 PM
First, I want to apologize for my silence. This journal entry was not meant to garner attention or gauge that I was missed. I simply knew my last entry was outdated and needed removed. I didn't have the words to replace so simply left it blank until I had the time and words to say what I needed to say. Secondly, I want to thank everyone for their concern and well-wishes. I've reached a very tough decision and have delayed discussing it here for various reasons I'll leave be publicly.

As you all know, my bio states that I had left the corporate world to focus on my art and writing. I was in the process of relocation to settle and really focus when a job practically fell into my lap. This wasn't just any job. It's a state capital lobbyist position advocating for accessible healthcare, which will eventually lead to D.C. I have to believe this developed out of dA's great loss last month: =Inqy, and my outrage at such a needless and senseless loss all because of the inaccessibility of healthcare.

I'm going to be honest, I had serious reservations and second-thoughts about taking the position because I was earnestly looking forward to a life of art and words. I know all too well the corporate and political lobbying scene, and it's not pretty at times. But I also know the rewards of accomplishing something needed by many people. In my heart I know that turning this position down would be wrong. I'm a fighter; a front-liner who paves the way for developers and organizers to build upon. This position was not advertised. It was brought to me for a reason, and I further know in my heart that art and words will come in my life when this is finished.

I know if I don't do this it will be something I regret for the rest of my life, and I'm sure my art and words would suffer because of that. I want to be the best artist and word-smith I can possibly be. If waiting a few more years guarantees that (and I believe it will) then it's worth it to have no regrets and be able to create in peace.

What that means is I will have very little time at present to create or comment. Politics makes strange bedfellows and unfortunately art and words aren't typically two of them. I have a ton of work to do and things to learn. I want you each to know that I have appreciated your support and encouragement through this process. I would also ask that you keep me in your prayers if you pray, and your thoughts if you don't. I'm going to need both. Hopefully one day I'll be allotted a refocus in addition to time and talent to do what it is I have wanted to do all my life: Art & Words.

Until then, L'Chaim! To Life and the paths it leads us.

Love Ana

Apologies!

Journal Entry: Sat Jul 11, 2009, 8:02 AM
Personal Hiatus.

I apologize for not announcing I would be on a personal Hiatus this week. I will be back in full swing this weekend or first of next week. Thank you to all who have been concerned. Once again, I apologize for forgetting to announce it. (I knew I was forgetting something!)

Kind regards.

Ana

Rest in Peace, "Inqy" with a "q".

^fllnthblnk and I have written President Obama regarding Angel's story. I included her tragic final Live Journal Entry in hopes this can be a catalyst for health care reform. Also, several individuals have signed this petition as well as donating monetarily in Angel's name. Lastly, many Senators, special interest groups and lobbyists for health care reform have been contacted. I encourage you to forward Angel's tragic story to your state Senator and even local representatives to further the cause of health care reform in our country.

Angel's tragic and final Live Journal entry may be found here.

"The family is requesting that if you were planning on sending flowers, you consider making a cash donation towards a college fund for Jubilee. Angel didn't like bouquets anyway - she thought that it was cruel to cut flowers just to let them die."

Anyone who wishes to contribute to Angel's daughter's college fund may do so to the following address:

You are making just as great a difference in Death as you did in Life.

Rest In Peace, Angel.

In Memoriam - Updated-Family Request.

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 9, 2009, 3:39 AM
In Memoriam - Family requests and final Live Journal Entry

:iconinqy: =Inqy, Devoted wife, mother and Digital Team Head for Daily Deviants, has passed away. All of us on the team, as well as those who knew her, are at a loss for words. She was nothing but helpful and friendly to everyone she knew. Her last feature has been posted, as a means of thanking her for everything.

Roland Yates
c/o Faith Lutheran Church
7750 Beneva Rd
Sarasota, FL 34238-2848

Angel's last live journal entry may be found here. I am certain she would want anyone who experiences the symptoms she was experiencing to seek medical attention immediately.

Ironically, the only piece of literature she said she'd ever post was the following, entitled

Dreamer

I'm not a traveler here.
I wished my life away
for painted stories,
pixel skies,
and violet dismay.

I'm not a prisoner here..
Although I'm bound by time,
ethereal warden.
Here I try,
and find my hands are tied.

I'm not a sinner here..
I've held my share of guilt.
That sweet remorse
can't hold me
to a lie another built.

I'm not a watcher here.
My fingers taste the sand,
strange fascination
sifted through
a pauper's blistered hand.

I'm not uncertain here..
Although my thoughts collide.
Voices only
echo what
I can't control inside.

I'm just a dreamer here..
Imagining this rhyme.
I'll leap through air, and
if I die,
it's only in my mind.

--Angel (Inqy)

From all of us here, Rest in Peace, Inqy.

Deviant Spotlight

 :icontinkwig:

There are few deviants as diverse in the arts as *tinkwig. His talents range from poetry to collage to lyrics. But it isn't enough to possess and produce such talent. Behind it also lies a beautiful and gentle soul who always has a kind word of support, encouragement and positive direction for those he watches. Talented, witty and caring, I think many will join me in kudos and hat's off to *tinkwig for being a wonderful community asset who deserves recognition!

Thought of the Week

In honor of *tinkwig for understanding where true talent and beauty belong.

I knew I belonged to the public and to the world. Not because I was talented or even beautiful, but because I had never belonged to anything or anyone else.

Deviant Spotlight

 :iconladylincoln:

One of the first things I noticed when I returned to deviantArt was the name of ^LadyLincoln being thanked for her generous subscription donations. It seemed every page I read, club or contest there was a thank you to ^LadyLincoln for her generosity. So I decided to find out who this ^LadyLincoln was. In addition to discovering she was a GM, I remember her first (for me) journal entry and thinking to myself, now that's a deviant I want to aspire to emulate. The journalist in me drooled! Each month since then I have eagerly awaited her journal release to find out all the latest Lit News around dA! If you don't have her on your watch I highly suggest you add her!

So I think many will join me in kudos and hat's off to ^LadyLincoln for being a wonderful community asset who deserves recognition herself!

Quote

In honor of ^LadyLincoln for such selfless giving of both possession and heart.
